How’s Your Faith Today?

April 2017 Blog:

Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.9:24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. (Mark 9:23-24)

A Measure of Faith

The Bible tells us in Romans 12:3 that we all have a measure of faith. In fact, if it were not for that measure, we would not be part of this group. God as the author and finisher of our faith has plans to grow it that we know nothing about. How is your faith today? Is it growing, is it wilting, or is it static? Sometimes our faith can be a little sensitive. What I mean by that is that it can be tied to how we are feeling. I am sure in our walk with God we have experienced fluctuations. Is your faith the same in the valley as it is on the mountain?

Why Faith?

But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city (Hebrews 11:16).
Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? (John 11.40).
He that believes on Me has everlasting life. (see John 6:47)

Just a quick review of how many times the words believe and faith will give us an idea of how fundamental it is to our Christian walk. In the KJV the words "believe" occurs 285 times whilst "faith" appears 336 times. Someone recently said that “faith is the currency of heaven.” Here's my thoughts on this. Can you see heaven yet? The answer is no. Is that your destination? I hope your answer is yes. How will you get there then? Hopefully the scriptures above give us a clue. Do you desire a better country? God has prepared one. Do you want to see the glory of God? God is making arrangements for eternity and faith is the currency, the boarding pass and the key.

Feed That Faith

Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst (John6:35).
He that believes on Me, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water (John7:38).

Did you realise that faith needs feeding? Well just as we have natural laws for growth, we have similar spiritual laws. As faith is a spiritual concept, it responds to spiritual conditions. How do you feed your faith? It was Jesus who reminded the devil that man cannot live by bread alone - that is the physical food. He knew that even though he was hungry through fasting, the physical bread was not going to give him the necessary fuel to defeat the devil. It is the bread of heaven from the Word of God and Living Water from the Holy Spirit that are required for spiritual nourishment. Are we able to say "It Is Written" just as Christ did through the Power of the Holy Spirit when the devil comes knocking at our door with a temptation or trial?

Work That Faith

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing (James 1:3-4).
But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life (Jude1:20-21).

Again, when we compare natural and spiritual laws we will find that just as the body needs to be exercised in order to remain active strong and healthy, so does our faith.
Remember as heavenly currency, faith has to be exercised in order to grow, that it may fulfil divine purposes. We are reminded that if we live by the flesh we will die (spiritually) but if the spirit is in control, we will live. The flesh profiteth nothing. God engineers our faith workouts through the tests and trials he allows. The purpose from a spiritual perspective we will be in God's eyes: holy, perfect, entire and wanting nothing (James 1:4).

Live that Faith

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:2).
He that believes on Me, the works that I do, shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go to my Father (John14:12).

When I was growing up there was a song called “Money in my Pocket but I just can't get no love.” Well how about Faith in my Pocket but I just can't get no Power. If faith the currency of heaven, remains in your pocket, your aspirations for heaven will also be there. Matthew 6:19-21 sums it up nicely:
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Faith cashed in equals heaven. It may not feel like it: God's faith building methods are often painful because flesh is being crucified at the same time. When we see things with eye salve on however, we will see Jesus Christ, the Forerunner, the Waymaker, the Lamb slain, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah the Mighty Prince Emmanuel has paved the way, because of the Joy Set Before Him Hallelujah! Jesus Christ is at the Right Hand of the Majesty on High. Because we are the body and he is the head, we are there too! Because he Overcame, we are destined to overcome through Faith in His Finished work on the Cross and the Power of the Blood. A Living Faith gives us Power to do the Greater Works: winning souls and Turning the World Upside Down. Isn't it worth it (plus God throws heaven and eternity in as a bonus!).

Let Us Pray

Dear Awesome Almighty God. Faith is a divine mystery to our finite human imaginations and yet because of your Grace, it contains the Power of God which will bring us up to your Throne Room in heaven. We can taste heaven and now and look forward to it for eternity. Heavenly Father empower us with Grace through your Holy Spirit to endure the testing and building of our Faith. May we accept all with Joy and bear everything with Love, all for Your Glory Honour and Praise, amen.
